Just an FYI...
Since I have one of these, I can speak to the absolute "coolness" (remember I am old so I use the word "cool" as much as I can) of this unit. I use it on my "N" wireless router and it streams flawlessly (I did spend a couple of nickels on a new Netgear "N" router to make sure the RoKu worked as advertised). That said, if you do not have a "N" router you can use ethernet to make the connection also! (see screen shot above). The unit also sports a HDMI interface which, ya know... you have to have to see HD in all it's fantastic glory.
The unit is freaking tiny but it packs a punch! I can access Amazon's video store, Netflix video streaming, and now MLB.com (Major League Baseball), plus a crap-load of other channels (see them all here ).
As I said, the unit works REALLY well. Again, it's small but don't be putt-off by this little giant. Plug it in, it updates itself, reboots, and off you go. VERY convenient!Anyhow, I paid full price for mine (about 150.00) but now, until tomorrow, the kind folks over at Roku are offering the unit with a $25.00 dollar coupon if you act now. I don't know about you, but I have three other mouths to feed and with the economy in the shitter, we spend a LOT more time at home now and with all the entertainment we now have between the Roku, the Blueray player, and Netflix, and Direct TV, we don't have a real need to head out anymore.
Anyway, I bought the HD "N" version and I love it! If you're looking for a gift for Dad (remember tomorrow is Father's Day in case you forgot) get Dad one of these and a new wireless "N" router (come on... you know Dad is worth it! Who gave you your first beer? Besides that guy? Right! Dad did! So spend a few bucks on him however, not more than you did on Mom for mothers day. You will NEVER hear the end of it!).
Check out the Roku. I love mine!
